Marco Sanguinetti

He was born in Buenos Aires in 1973. He is an Industrial Designer and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Town Planning of the University of Buenos Aires. He also did his teacher training at the UBA, where he has worked as a lecturer for 9 years, teaching Industrial Design (working with the architect Ricardo Blanco from 2001 to 2008 and under Professor Eduardo Naso since the beginning of 2009). Since 2007 he has been working on the research project “Dialéctica global/local en las prácticas del diseño industrial” (Global/local dialectics in industrial design practices) for the University of Buenos Aires. He was a lecturer on Product Design at the University of Palermo from 2003 to 2008. During 2005 and 2006 he gave the seminar “Intersecciones entre Arte y Diseño Industrial” (Intersections between Art and Industrial Design) in the space “Artilaria”. He has given presentations at various industrial design conferences and workshops. He has worked with renowned designers, such as Juan Doberti, Alejandro Sarmiento, Guillermo Portaluppi and Alejandro Katkownik, among others. His products have been included in the “ArgDis” exhibitions (Santiago de Chile, 2006 / Tokyo, 2007), “Balance del Diseño Industrial 2000-2005” (Evaluation of Industrial Design 2000-2005 – MAMBA, 2007) and “Sillas de Autor del diario Clarín” (Designer Chairs of the Clarín newspaper – Biennial Architecture Show, 2009). He has received, among other recognitions, the Design Award at Casa FOA 2005, the First Professional Prize Ternium Siderar 2007 and an Innovar 2008 Prize. He operates professionally from Estudio Sanguinetti (www.estudiosanguinetti.com.ar) providing comprehensive solutions to Argentinian companies. He presently coordinates the Metropolitan Institute of Design and Innovation (www.imdi-cmd.blogspot.com) at the Metropolitan Design Centre (CMD). There he acts as editor of the design magazine IF and is in charge of the organisation of the Conference CMD, directs the annual research carried out by the area, coordinates the publication of the book on the history of the CIDI, organises the weekly meetings Desayunos de Diseño (Breakfasts of Design) and represents the CMD in the National Strategic Design and Innovation Programme, among other activities of the centre. He is also a pianist and composer.
