Beatriz Fadón
After studying agricultural chemistry and realizing how much harm is done to the environment by using traditional agricultural methods, Beatriz started to devote herself to agro-ecology. Convinced that the best way to create a change is to know the situation from inside, Beatriz began growing and selling her own ecological products in the heart of Extremadura, where she had to cope with a strong pressure. Throughout the process, she could appreciate the powerful influence that the farmers have on the rest of the productive and commercializing process and the importance that they become the motor of that change. By means of the conversations with them and looking for a model that could be reproduced in other regions of Spain and other countries, Beatriz founded the Calea network and more recently, Extremadura Sana to work either with small farmers or the other actors of the sector so that ecological agriculture can become a reality in the rural areas of Spain. She is also part of the REAS Extremadura network (Red de Economía Alternativa y Solidaria that stands for the network of alternative and Solidarity economy).
